  • 1 Large mixing bowl For coating potatoes
  • 1 Sharp knife For slicing potatoes and sausage

  • 1 Cheese grater Freshly shredding cheese
  • 1 Aluminum foil For covering dish during baking
  • 1 Mandoline slicer Optional, for uniform potato slices
  • 1 Oven Preheated to 400°F

Ingredients

  • ¼ lbs Russet potatoes Sliced into ¼-inch rounds, skin on
  • 1 lb Smoked sausage Sliced into ½-inch coins
  • 2 cups Cheddar cheese Sharp, freshly shredded
  • 1 oz Ranch seasoning One packet
  • 0.5 cup Sour cream
  • 0.25 cup Whole milk
  • 2 tablespoon Olive oil For drizzling
  • 1 Yellow onion Diced
  • 3 cloves Garlic Minced

Optional Additions

  • 0.5 cup Bacon bits For smokiness
  • 0.25 cup Fresh chives Chopped, for garnish
  • 0.5 cup Frozen corn
  • 1 Bell pepper Diced
  • 0.25 teaspoon Paprika For color

Instructions

  • Remove foil, sprinkle cheese over top, and bake uncovered for 10–15 more minutes.
  • Slice and prep all ingredients including potatoes, sausage, onion, and garlic.
  • Mix ranch seasoning, sour cream, milk, and olive oil in a bowl.
  • Coat sliced potatoes in the mixture until evenly coated.
  • Layer potatoes, sausage, and onion into the baking dish.
  • Cover with foil and bake for 35–40 minutes.
  • Remove foil, sprinkle cheese over top, and bake uncovered for 10–15 more minutes.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  • Garnish with chives, bacon bits, or paprika if using, and serve hot.
